After teaching at Northside High School in Jacksonville for eight years, Kadie Ondrus has been hired to teach Biology and Honors Biology at Chapel Hill High School.

Freshman Shun Le, one of Ondrus’ students, said she likes Ondrus’ direct approach to teaching.

“We do lots of group discussions and review of concepts in class,” she said. “It’s nice to have a teacher who is really interactive and doesn’t just read off of a presentation.”

Ondrus received her undergraduate degree at Gannon University in Pennsylvania and her master’s degree at John Carroll University in Ohio.

She said the only real change she is adapting to is the size of the school.

“This school is a lot larger than my old school, so there are a lot more classes,” she said.

Ondrus said she believes Chapel Hill’s size and setting will bring new opportunities for herself and her students.

“I’m looking forward to being able to reach out, meet new kids, be in a new community and make a difference,” she said.
