The Chapel Hill women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to D.H. Conley High School in the third round of the NCHSAA 3A state playoffs last Wednesday.

The Tigers, the defending state champions, ended the season with an overall record of 15-3-4, and finished second in the Big Eight 3A conference (12-2).

Chapel Hill outscored its opponents by a total of 9-0 in the first two rounds of the tournament before being defeated by Conley.

The class of 2019 cemented a winning tradition to the program as they captured three conference titles, and a 3A state championship in 2018. In their four years, the girls helped the varsity team posted a record of 68-10-8.

Senior captain Kerry Testen was a contributor to last year’s championships team. However, a back injury forced her to watch from the sidelines this season. Testen says that being a part of the Chapel Hill program was her favorite part of her experience at Chapel Hill High School.

“It is such a family atmosphere, and I have met some of my best friends because of it. I would do anything for those girls, and I can’t imagine not seeing them next year,” Testen said.

Through everything that Testen and her teammates have been through the last four years, she knows that her bond with her teammates won’t end.

“When I come home to visit the team, even years from now, I know that the loving, fun, and crazy atmosphere will remain the exact same,” Testen said.
