Students returning from winter break may have noticed several construction-related changes around campus, such as the demolition of the garage where automotive classes had been held and the new construction fence by the student parking lot.
“Everything is on schedule, so the new buildings are supposed to be completed over the summer,” Principal Charles Blanchard said.
He said one of the main focuses over winter break was the construction of the new E building, which is also scheduled to be completed over the summer.
“Over winter break, they put the construction fence up and pinned the demolition to start the construction of the E building,” Blanchard said. “The new E building will house fire, ENT and automotive programs.”
He added that C building renovations also began during winter break.
“The renovation of C building will happen in phases throughout the spring and into the summer,” Blanchard said.
Because school is in session until June, many major renovations will have to take place during the summer.
“In the summer, they have to go in and finish the renovations in B building,” he said. “Renovations will include updating the cafeteria space and kitchen, doing some additional work in the classrooms, and converting B-140 and B-150 into a student fitness room that will be used by physical education classes.”
Blanchard added that once the A building is demolished, the area will be converted into student parking lots.
“Essentially, the goal is that when we come back to school in the fall, all renovations and all new buildings will be complete and ready for use,” he said.
