Jeremy Nabors, the choir director at Chapel Hill High School, has left his position to teach at the Durham School of the Arts this fall.
Nabors taught vocal arts, including Concert and Chamber Choir classes and Cabaret Singers, since August 2004.
“My favorite part [of] teaching at Chapel Hill High School was the willingness of the students to push themselves to learn and the dedication of the amazing staff that always put the students first,” Nabors said.
His fondest memories at Chapel Hill High School include collaborations that his choral arts classes would do with core academic classes.
“We once did an amazing concert with the Comparative Religions Class where we had the Chamber Choir sing from the catwalks in the theater,” he said.
Rising senior Coleman Lemoine was enrolled in Nabors’s Chamber Choir class.
“My favorite memories in his class were the days after our last concert of the year when we weren’t singing because Nabors would hang out with all of us and just talk to us about our lives,” Lemoine said. “He really cared about his students and is a great person to talk to.”
“[Nabors] will be missed dearly, but his legacy will live on because of how strong he made our choral program,” Lemoine said.
