The Chapel Hill High School men’s basketball team was defeated by Southern Durham High School in the first round of the North Carolina 3A NCHSAA State Playoffs 69-57, last night.

Chapel Hill trailed by only two points at halftime, but the Spartans outscored the Tigers by five points in the 3rd and 4th quarters to secure the victory.

The squads had already met on three occasions, two times in the regular season and one in the Big Eight conference tournament. Southern Durham swept all three games before last night’s playoff clash.

The Tigers were the 21 seed in the Eastern Region and traveled to Southern Durham to face the 12th-seeded Spartans.

Chapel Hill ended the season with an overall record of 16-11 and a conference record of 10-4.
