Orange County has moved forward on plans to build a new library in Carrboro. Both the Orange County Board of Commissioners and the Town of Carrboro Board of Aldermen approved the process on October 19.

Over $7.5 million has been allocated for design, materials and construction. It will increase office space for the town of Carrboro and offer programs that the current Carrboro Branch Library at McDougle and the Cybrary in downtown Carrboro cannot support. The project, at 203 South Greensboro Street, is set to be completed by the fall of 2019.
